“Freud und Leid”: a play on words, as the name “Freud” also means joy in colloquial German. In the diptych, it is dialectically juxtaposed with „Leid“, which means suffering.⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
Iconic, spontaneous forms illustrate the colors of life. Stability and joie de vivre only emerge from the order of the cellular-biomorphic forms in the cohesive whole. Harmony in colors and surfaces, surprising in the result, not plannable, like life itself. A fragile bond on the brown womb of Mother Earth. The fault lines, fatefully inscribed in black from the very beginning: dark spaces of decay or illness.⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
Black lines divide. They overwrite what was once orderly. Suffering grows uncoordinated and boundless. The illness that takes possession of our integrity. In the disintegration of formal harmony, black space gains its autonomous identity. It leaves us searching for joy in suffering. ⁣⁣⠀

The mycelis consists of a network of fine, thin-shaped structures called hyphaes. It serves as the main organ of the fungus for food intake and for growth and it can become huge.⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
The largest known mycelium belongs to a Hallimash (Armillaria Ostoyae) in Oregon USA and is said to be over 9 square kilometers in size and up to an estimated 8500 years old.⁣⁣⠀
