“Danube Dash I”, art installation for Open Art Summerstage 2025
Colored pigment print reworked with graphite and colored pencil
Schellmann explores the “Donau Kanal Wien” biotope directly in front of the Summerstage. She grants elements of the constantly fluid biomass a lasting moment of visibility.
Through a transmedial process involving microscopy, photography, digital image editing, printing, and analog graphite and colored pencil drawing, she merges science and art in a site-specific way. The work evolves in creative dialogue with highly magnified algae structures.
In drawing, her strokes express a sense of delight at this revealed microcosm. Nature sets the framework for the selection of colors and forms—while art expands upon them spontaneously.
